S.E.K. (Special-Emergency-Knife) – Appropriate action under extreme circumstances requires effective training and suitable tools. In particular during special operations both factors may decide over life and death. Reports from military and police operations experts convinced master designer Dietmar Pohl to decide in favour of a dagger blade shape for this particular special operations knife. The advantages are obvious. When under stress the user must not waste time thinking about which side the cutting edge is located. Fractions of seconds decide. In addition, with the dagger blade you can cut by pulling or pressing it. The emphasised cross guard on both sides purposely branches off at right angles to ideally protect the hand (hammer grip). The 10,5 cm long handle grip is perfectly suited for the use with gloved hands. In order to ensure optimal grip hold Eickhorn chose G-10 scales with rough grip surface for the S.E.K. Three large holes in the grip not only improve grip-safety but also lend the necessary weighting to the knife. Two smaller holes towards the grip end serve the purpose of fastening a safety cord (attach cable - see page 33). Solid steel construction made of stainless Boehler N695 steel (HRC 58). S.E.K. – M (Marine) Aggressive salt water places special requirements on steel blades, especially regarding their corrosion resistance. In order to apply the S.E.K. – M also for special maritime operations the entire surface was treated with an extremely resistant DLC carbon coating (diamond-like-carbon).
